The Merchant of Hoghton” farmers Market held monthly in the Great Barn has been featured on Radio 4’s Food Programme as the county’s largest local producers market and as a fantastic showcase for Lancashire produce.
I haven't been for a while, however on all occasions I have been it has been great. Lots of local suppliers, from ordinary meat and veg (The chickens are fantastic if the same guy is still there!) to Ostrich and Cheese as well as Med food. Definitely worth a drive, and it isn't too sparse if you can't be one of the first there - something that always seems to be the case at a lot of farmers markets.
