At Craigie's, we believe in seasonality - eating things when they are in season. We don’t see the sense in flying in fresh food from distant continents or after it’s been in cold store for months and months.
Fruit and veg in season is tastier and, more often than not, cheaper. Of course, you can buy strawberries all year round, but eat one in February and it simply won’t compare with June’s sweet, fresh crop. Follow the seasons and you can look forward to different treats all year round.
Visiting Craigie's is a perfect way to spend a summer's day - set in beautiful countryside and the raspberries have to be tasted to be believed! The variety Craigie's grow are in polytunnels - so great for the average Scottish summer day;) - and the canes magically don't have any prickles. I made the most luscious jam of my life following a visit to Craigie's and would will be visiting often, especially since its within cycling distance to me! Smiles all round:)
This is a great place to visit anytime for good food, but especially in the summer to pick your own fruit then flop with a cup of tea and home baking in the recent opened cafe - if the weather is good, sit on the deck area and admire the Firth of Forth. There is a wide range of stuff for "foodies " to buy. A delight!
Excellent shop, deli, cafe and pick your own fruit site. Fantastic views and outside seating area. nature trail for the kids. amazing range of Scotish cheeses and a mix of local and organic produce.
